General Motorbike Service
Bikes in general require a lot more maintenance than a car. But there are a whole bunch of motorcyclists out there who haven't a clue how to work on their bikes or what really needs to be done to ensure reliability.
Motorcyclists should be able to do at least some basic checks on their bikes to ensure longevity. The more you care about your bike the longer it will last, the better it will perform. You take care of your bike and your bike will take care of you. You should get it serviced regularly, at least every 2-3 months to keep it in peak condition. Performing general maintenance on your bike will also help you spot problems before they occur.
As such each and every part of the bike is important and should be inspected and verified for wear and tear. But some parts are more prone to wear and tear and need to inspected on a regular basis. Here is a basic list of some of the most important things to check on your bike. Even doing a little can make a big difference. Keeping your battery in good condition is necessary for the electrical parts to work. If you run out of engine oil, your engine will cease. Tire bursts are among the most common reason for accidents. Keeping your brakes in good order is a necessity for obvious reasons. Chain and sprocket need to be checked for wear and tear before long trips.
Covering all of these in a single article would become very looong. So instead I will cover them individually in separate articles. These articles will include basic things that you can check or if you get it checked by a mechanic, you will still know what is going on. Keep watching this space for updates.
